Moving from Monterrey, Mexico at the age of 13, Moises spoke no English and knew no one outside of his immediate family. As the first in his family to attend college and complete an associate degree, a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, education changed his life.

“91���� provided so many opportunities that were tailored to me and my unique circumstances. I am a product of all the investments community leaders have made to provide all Tulsans an opportunity to succeed in life through 91����,” he said.

Now, he works with an organization dedicated to achieving respect and understanding for all Oklahomans, and eliminating bias, bigotry and racism in the state and in this generation. He believes in positively influencing the next generation to be inclusive leaders as well as giving back to the community that he believes has given so much to him.

In 2018, he was chair of TYPROS, the largest organized young professionals association in the nation. He currently serves on the Tulsa City-County Library Commission, appointed by the Tulsa Mayor and serves on the Oklahoma State Advisory Committee of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. He is also a graduate of Leadership Tulsa Class 54 and Leadership Oklahoma Class 32.

In January 2019, he was named one of four Oklahomans of the Year by Oklahoma Magazine. His awards include the 2019 Russell Bennett Award by Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry, the 2018 Circle of Friends in Service Award by The Links Incorporated, the 2017 Orgullo Hispano Award by Mita’s Foundation, the 2016 Oklahoma Human Rights Award by the Oklahoma Human Rights Alliance, the 2014 Impacto Hispanic Young Professional of the Year Award by the Tulsa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Best of 91���� Distinguished Alumni in 2011.
